Hse of Nwocha showcased YOSHINAKA its fall 2012 collection

The HSE of Nwocha fall collection is a tale of strong women of old from the Far East in Asia. In early feudal Japan, samurai women were expected to exhibit loyalty, bravery, and take on the duty to revenge at all times. As her warrior husband was often absent. She oversaw the harvesting of crops, managing of servants and took over all financial duties. She also had to provide proper education of her children, and to instill in them a strong sense of loyalty to the samurai ideas of courage and physical strength. Yoshinaka (1184) was a warrior woman; she was exceptionally beautiful and had charming features. She was a remarkably strong archer and as a swords woman, she was able to confront anything on foot or on horseback. She performed more deeds of valor than any other warrior of her time. Hse of Nwocha presents Yoshinaka in modern terms. A strong almost gothic woman, not afraid of her body and it's magic. Our use of soft black velvet, black spiral French lace, feathers, and a rich golden French sequence lace tells a cohesive fall story. This collection also features spiked mini dresses, long evening dresses, bootleg cut trousers, cropped tops, swords and gold accessories to match.

Elegance and Sophistication has proven to be a profitable formula for Hse of Nwocha over the years, netting the label a diverse following. For our summer 2011 collection shown at the AFRICAN FASHION WEEK LONDON on the 5th of August 2011 at the Gibson Hall bishop-gate London, we had something for every girl, from romantic garden dresses to sporty separates in white lace and soft floral chiffon. As well as flirty crepe de chine dresses with smocked waists. Splash of color on blouses and skirts, using wallpaper floral chiffon in peach and aquamarine and a hypermodern stenciled white lace. All told, Ugonna's nicely balanced summer collection story. For this collection i wanted everything as light as a feather, I wanted the pieces to feel lost in the wind, It’s called "STEREOTYPES" and it’s for a woman who wants to be lost in two things this summer, the wind and her music. She wants the wind in her hair and music in her ears. The designs were built around the idea that the model and her clothes should be lost in their own world. To unify the line, she put headphones on each of the models, symbolically closing out the words of nay-Sayers around them. The clothes included such typical high-fashion techniques such as intricate bead work, feathers and smoked waists. This collection opens with the official white color for the summer in a white lace dress, the collection takes us on a music journey from a white lace dress to a mix of marine shades like blue, orange, lemon green, yellow floral print and a fire red piece.

Hse of Nwocha recently showed its 2011 fall collection at the just concluded ARISE FASHION WEEK in Lagos. The show gave African designers from all over Africa, a platform to showcase their work. HON showed its ability to create two piece designs without forgetting those beautiful dresses that the label is known for. HON's collection came as a surprise to most of the attendees who expected to see dresses but instead there was a complete surprise in store for them. Military looking jackets and velvet trousers and skirts graced the runway from HON. The collection is called "Pretty Girl Rock" which had a lot of two piece military jackets and silk trousers, also the models finished the rock look with leather studded gloves. The shoes and studded neck pieces went a long way to make the pieces look so elegant, stylish and modern. This season has a variety of fabrics including damask, velvet, silk, lace, and also featuring a signature spiral detail. This collection features a lot of belted structured tricked-out jackets, lace and velvet evening dresses and silk cropped trousers. This was very new from HON and wow, it was interesting to watch.
